What is Microsoft Build? Microsoft Build is an annual conference aimed at software and web developers who use Windows and Microsoft technologies. Microsoft says: “Software continues to transform the world in remarkable ways and developers are at the centre of it. Its price and design appear to compete with Google’s Chromebook Pixel, but that’s no longer on sale. But there is a similar laptop that we can sensibly compare it to: the 2017 MacBook. We’ve also compared the Surface Laptop and Surface Book, in case you’re choosing between those. This thin-and-light notebook was launched last year and weighs less than a kilo. Its 12in screen is smaller than the 13.5in Surface Laptop, though, and as with all Macs, doesn’t have a touchscreen....

However, it wasn’t long before the Surface Pro line established Microsoft as the default Windows 2-in-1 maker. That remains the case to this day, despite increased competition from the likes of Dell, Lenovo and Huawei. But after six years of iterative updates, Microsoft has finally introduced wholesale changes with the Surface Pro 8. There are smaller bezels, a larger 120Hz display, better battery life and an upgraded rear camera. That’s before you get to the customary processor upgrade....

The main working window in the program looks much like those in the better known applications, from the likes of Acronis or Paragon. There’s a menu bar along the top, a toolbox down the left-hand side and the rest of the screen showing details of the drives the software has found on your system, with indications of capacity, current use and drive stats. The screen is particularly clean and tidy, although most of the actual work is done through a series of wizards – this time we do mean the step-by-step single-task Windows tools....

Moov HR Sweat: Design & build quality The best place to measure your pulse in terms of accuracy and convenience, Moov maintains, is at your temple. Accordingly, the company’s heartrate monitor is designed to be worn on the inside of a tight stretchy headband, although it can also be worn on the ankle. The sweatband that comes with the Moov is black and largely nondescript, with only the company name picked out in silver lettering and a little heart icon next to the heart monitor....

The Android Nougat 7.0 phones both have 5in displays – the Plus model has improved battery and screen, but not a larger screen size. Read on for all the info on the Moto C and Moto C Plus. The second-generation Moto G, which we predicted would be called the Moto G2, is easier to find online by searching for its part code: XT1068. Visually, though, the 2014 model is easy to tell apart from the original (and revised 4G version) thanks to the prominent front-facing speakers and larger 5in screen. Halfords also sells the new rear cam for £49.99, and it doesn’t take an able mathematician to work out that this brings the total to as near as makes no difference £200. However, a current offer means that if you buy the two together you get the rear camera for half price, which is a great deal....

It’s got similar specs to handsets like the Sony Xperia XZ1 and HTC U11 which cost £599 and £649 respectively. Other phones like the Galaxy S8 are even more expensive. That’s not to say the Nokia 8 is the bargain of the century with no rivals. In fact, the impressive OnePlus 5 is £449 and the Honor 9 is an astounding £379 so it’s not a done deal. Price and availability The new Now TV Streaming Smart Stick is out now, and costs £14.99 from Sky. This makes it the most affordable of its type with the nearest well-known brand rivals being the Google Chromecast 2 and Roku Express both at £30. Although there are plenty of free services available, you’ll still need to pay to access Sky’s range of content. You can get the Streaming Smart Stick bundled with a Now TV Pass starting at £19....

The report on Hartlepool nuclear power station was reportedly downloaded in unencrypted form on to the drive before being lost by a senior Health and Safety Executive (HSE) official while at a conference in India, sources told The Sun newspaper. Containing extensive technical plans to the EDF-owned plant, the report was part of an assessment carried out on all ten of the country’s nuclear power stations in the aftermath of the Fukushima incident after the Japan Tsunami last March....

We knew it was coming, just like last year’s Titan X eclipsed the GTX 980 Ti, but whether or not you consider it a ‘consumer’ graphics card is another matter. In any case, the Titan Xp is here and we’re comparing it against the GTX 1080 Ti for specs and price. Next year, or possibly later in 2017, it’s rumoured that the next generation of GeForce cards will be launched....

The problems seem to have started at around 8:00 AM this morning and are ongoing at the time this article was posted. O2 has confirmed in a tweet that one of its third-party suppliers has identified a software issue in its system, which appears to be the cause of the fault. They’re currently working hard to resolve the issue so we would imagine it won’t be too long before its back up....

The Oculus Go was one of the first all-in-one VR headsets on the market when it first appeared in 2018, offering a great virtual reality experience without the need for a smartphone or high-end PC. But, recently, Oculus announced that the Oculus Go is to be discontinued beginning later this year. The company confirmed in a blog post that the Go will stop receiving new apps and games from December 2020, although it would continue to receive bug fix updates until 2022....
