But, the change does mean that there are now new ways to accomplish everyday tasks. Apple has outlined how to achieve most of these in this helpful guide, but one often requested feature missing from the list is taking a screenshot. Fear not, Tech Advisor is always here to serve. So, we show you the easy way to capture the contents of your screen on the iPhone X.
Taking a screenshot
In the older iPhone models, or still quite new in the case of the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus, taking a screenshot was a simple combination of holding down both the Power button and Home button at the same time. Of course, as we’ve already mentioned, the iPhone X arrives without the second of these controls, and therefore requires a different approach. To capture the image on the screen you’ll need to press the Side button (the one that turns the device on and off) and at the same time press the Volume Up button on the opposite flank of the device.
If you do this successfully (the knack is to press and hold for a second then release) the screen should flash white and you’ll see a thumbnail of the screenshot appear in the bottom left corner. Tapping on the icon will open up the editing screen where you can crop and annotate the image. When you’re happy, tap the Done option in the top left corner and you’ll be given the choice to delete it or save the screenshot to your Photos library. That’s it. Not a million miles away from the way you used to do it, and a fair swap for the new edge to edge display.
