Microsoft released the Surface Go tablet last October. It’s a 10in 2-in-1 laptop when paired with the Type Cover (sold separately, starting at £99) but its size doesn’t compromise performance. In our review, we recommended it as a good choice for those who don’t want to dish out upwards of £700 for the Surface Pro 6. It’s a better deal than Microsoft’s all round. Not only is Microsoft’s offer on the same Surface Go model and Type Cover more expensive, at £628, it doesn’t actually save you on the devices themselves....

Note: As of 1 Jan 2018, Google has blocked access to YouTube on Fire TV devices. The app now shows an error message which explains this. A clunky workaround is to install a web browser in the app store and browse to YouTube.com. The Fire TV Stick with Alexa is already on sale in the UK and has been since 6 April. The 4K Fire TV Stick is available to pre-order now and goes on sale on 25 October....

Radeon RX Vega release date: 14 August 2017 You should be able to buy the new RX Vega 64 and RX Vega 56 from 14 August. As well as the two cards, there’s also a liquid-cooled edition of the RX Vega 64. This is available only as part of the new Radeon Packs. These are effectively bundles which give you a discount on the 34in Samsung CF791 curved ultrawide FreeSync monitor, and on select Ryzen 7 1800X processor and 370X motherboard combos, a total of $300 (approx £300) in combined hardware savings....

Apple’s AR/VR development team is reportedly comprised of over 1,000 Apple employees, all dedicated to working the emerging technologies into upcoming products. This is backed up by specific AR/VR-inspired Apple hires over recent years, and the company has also acquired a handful of companies that specialise in either AR/VR tech, or content tailored to those platforms. It makes sense in a way – Apple has always said that AR is a very interesting technology, and it effectively already has the largest AR app offering in the world via ARKit-integrated apps on the App Store, so it wouldn’t be a huge step to transfer AR-focused apps to a headset platform that’d provide a more immersive, enjoyable experience than holding up a smartphone in front of you....

We previously reported on rumours that Microsoft would update the Surface Pro and Laptop while also introducing a 2-in-1 with updated design and ARM architecture as opposed to the usual Intel internals. That appears to be true, though whether the device will be called Surface 7, Surface Go 2 or something else remains to be seen. Asda has launched what it is calling Britain’s lowest priced mobile phone at just £5. If you’re strapped for cash this Christmas then Asda is on hand with a super-cheap phone offer. The Alcatel 1010 feature phone is just £5 with no minimum top-up charge and is available online and in-store now. Asda predicts that it will be popular amongst elder shoppers and as a ‘spare phone’ for smartphone users....
